    WHAT IS MEDIA PRODUCTION?

    This course offers learners the opportunity to develop knowledge and essential skills in the various fields of Media Production. The Media and Film Production course is designed to prepare students for further study or a career in the Media Industry. It provides an introduction to skills required in Journalism, Film Making, Radio Production, Design, etc. where learners will utilise professional equipment and software. It will also provide valuable foundation skills for further study in areas like communications, journalism, and audio visual studies.

    CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

    There is now a large number of places in computer courses in universities and in many local IT colleges for students who hold a QQI qualification in Media Production. Students can also progress to Media Studies in Maynooth University or First Arts, where there are over 175 places available. There are also places in UCD, TU Dublin, UCC, Marino, Carlow IT and Letterkenny IT.

    There are many opportunities for employment in areas like Radio and Sound Recording, Music Business, Advertising and Public Relations, Publishing, Webcasting, TV, Film Production, Publishing, Multimedia Production, Advertising and so on. There are also many further study opportunities in QQI Level 6 courses.

    ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

    • Leaving Cert or LCA
    • Mature students of all backgrounds
    • Other equivalent qualification
