What is pre-university law?

This one-year course will aim to prepare participants for entrance into Law and Arts programmes in Irish Universities and colleges as well as preparing students to work in a legal environment both in Ireland and abroad. This course will also help those who want to study legal and business courses in ITs or universities.

Career opportunities

There are places in DIT, UCC, IT Waterford, IT Letterkenny on law courses and there are now over 100 places in First Arts in Maynooth University, 25 places in UCD as well as numerous places in DCU, UCC, Mater Dei, and many local IT colleges for students who hold a QQI qualification in Pre Law. There are also other opportunities in law or legal studies programmes in third level colleges all around Ireland and in England. We have, for example, a very close link with Bangor University, Wales. There are also opportunities in travel and tourism, European administration, local heritage concerns as well as in the business world through insurance, banking, or international trade.

Entry requirements

  • Leaving Cert or LCA
  • Mature Students of all backgrounds
  • Other equivalent qualification

All applicants will be interviewed regardless of previous qualifications.
